Regular Season Round 7: Mgzavrebi - Sokhumi 68-82

Date: November 26, 2016
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#6) and Mgzavrebi (#8). Mgzavrebi was defeated at home 68-82 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Sokhumi. Mgzavrebi managed to win fourth quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sokhumi dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mgzavrebi's 28. Sokhumi forced 24 Mgzavrebi turnovers. It was a great evening for American point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Forward Giorgi Jgerenaia (206-90, college: N.Georgia) helped adding 10 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Sokhumi players scored in double figures. Sokhumi's coach Nugzar Cheishvili used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Avtandili Lominashvili (204-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Brandon Peters (188, college: Talladega, agency: Haylett Sports) scored 16 points. Sokhumi maintains sixth place with 2-5 record. Mgzavrebi at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.
