Regular Season Round 8: Asseco - PGE Turow 76-68

Very important is a road loss of second ranked PGE Turow (6-3) against sixth ranked Asseco (5-4) on Sunday night. Visiting PGE Turow was defeated by Asseco in a tough game in Gdynia 68-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PGE Turow. Asseco made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. PGE Turow was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Power forward Mikolaj Witlinski (207-95) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Asseco players scored in double figures. Ukrainian-American forward Denis Ikovlev (200-86, college: Nevada) replied with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Kacper Borowski (205-94) added 16 points in the effort for PGE Turow. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Asseco maintains sixth position with 5-4 record, which they share with Krosno and Rosa Radom. PGE Turow at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Anwil and MKS DG. Asseco will play against league's second-placed Stelmet in Zielona Gora in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. PGE Turow will play at home against TBV Start and hopes to get back on the winning track.
