Regular Season Round 17: CD Valdivia - Las Animas 95-96

A very close game took place in Valdivia between Las Animas and Deportivo Valdivia. Sixth ranked Las Animas (9-8) got a very close victory on the road over 11th ranked Deportivo Valdivia (9-6). Las Animas managed to escape with a 1-point win 96-95 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Deportivo Valdivia. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 19 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international point guard Franco Morales (179-92) accounted for 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) came up with 30 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Leonard Washington (201-88, college: Wyoming, agency: Two Points) added 12 points and 17 rebounds respectively for Deportivo Valdivia in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Las Animas maintains sixth place with 9-8 record. Loser Deportivo Valdivia keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Las Animas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Deportivo Valdivia will play against Puerto Montt (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
