Regular Season Round 7: Montana 2003 - Crvena Zvezda 77-54

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda's (1-5) road loss to eighth ranked Bulgarian Montana 2003 (4-2) 54-77 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Montana 2003. Crvena Zvezda managed to win third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Crvena Zvezda 41-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Montana 2003 looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Crvena Zvezda's players. It was a great evening for American guard Charel Allen (181-86, college: Notre Dame) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Point guard Viktoria Stoycheva (165-92) helped adding 8 points, 7 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals. Four Montana 2003 players scored in double figures. At the losing side Mina Djordjevic (186-99, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Marija Prlja (163-87) scored 10 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Bulgarian champion maintains eighth place in B with 4-2 record. Crvena Zvezda lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Montana 2003 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Crvena Zvezda will play against Athlete Celje (#6) and hope to win that game.
