Regular Season Round 8: Kutaisi - Cactus Tbilisi 93-82

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Cactus Tbilisi (3-4) was defeated on the road by second ranked Kutaisi (6-1) 93-82. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Cactus Tbilisi was better in fourth quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kutaisi players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The former international Beka Bekauri (207-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Giorgi Barbakadze (203-91) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Kutaisi's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international swingman Beqa Chikviladze (196-91) replied with 28 points and 6 rebounds and guard Davit Lomidze (197-97) added 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Cactus Tbilisi. Kutaisi have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 6-1 record behind leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Cactus Tbilisi at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Kutaisi will play against Sokhumi (#6) in Tbilisi in the next round. Cactus Tbilisi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mgzavrebi.
