Regular Season Round 8: St Chamond - Roanne 84-79

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Chorale de Roanne (5-3) against thirteenth ranked Saint Chamond (3-5) on Friday night. Visiting Chorale de Roanne was defeated by Saint Chamond in a tough game in Saint Chamond 79-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chorale de Roanne. It looked good early as Chorale de Roanne took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Saint Chamond had a 26-18 second period charge getting the lead and Chorale de Roanne was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-84. Saint Chamond players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Chorale de Roanne was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Eigirdas Zukauskas (203-92) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and American guard B.A. Walker (184-84, college: VCU, agency: Inception Sports) who added 13 points and 6 assists during the contest. American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Arthur Rozenfeld (178-95) scored 11 points and 9 assists. Four Chorale de Roanne players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Saint Chamond moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Chorale de Roanne at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Saint Chamond will play against higher ranked JA Vichy (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chorale de Roanne will play against Boulazac Basket (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
