A very interesting game took place in Doha. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of Al Sadd (0-1) to Qatar Sports Club (1-0) 74-72 on Saturday evening. Al Sadd was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 22-12 charge of Qatar Sports Club, which allowed them to win the game. Qatar Sports Club had a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 21 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) accounted for 25 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Moustafa Essam Fouda (174-97) came up with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and American forward Brandon Penn (203-90, college: Rider, agency: HMS) added 13 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Al Sadd in the defeat. Four Al Sadd players scored in double figures. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.
