Regular Season Round 9: Stal Ostrow - AZS Koszalin 65-60

Everything went according to plan when thirteenth ranked Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (4-6) defeated at home 15th ranked AZS Koszalin (2-7) 65-60 on Saturday. AZS Koszalin was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. outrebounded AZS Koszalin 31-19 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Aaron Johnson (173-88, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) nailed 15 points and 4 assists for the winning side and Bulgarian Hristo Nikolov (200-85, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 11 points and 5 rebounds. Stal Ostrow Wlkp.'s coach Emil Rajkovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Remon Nelson (175-90, college: FoKoPo) came up with 19 points and 5 assists and the other American import swingman Kenny Manigault (196-91, college: Pikeville) added 13 points respectively for AZS Koszalin in the defeat. Four AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Polpharma. AZS Koszalin lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. will meet higher ranked Asseco (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
