The game had a very big importance for second-ranked CB Granada as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Sammic ISB) loss. CB Granada defeated 4th placed Meridiano Alicante at home 78-72. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. CB Granada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. CB Granada outrebounded Meridiano Alicante 37-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. The former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian forward Alejandro Bortolussi (202-89) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four CB Granada players scored in double figures. Point guard Alvaro Lobo (192-92, agency: Duran International) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Guillermo Rejon (206-77) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Meridiano Alicante. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Avila. Meridiano Alicante at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Sammic ISB and Cambados. Meridiano Alicante will play next round against strong Fontedoso Carrefour trying to get back on the winning streak. CB Granada will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Zornotza at Amorebieta-Echano.
