Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Herford (5-6) won against at home 13th ranked Hagen-Haspe (2-10) 82-75 on Saturday. Herford forced 20 Hagen-Haspe turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Hagen-Haspe was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Spanish power forward Guillermo De La Puente (198-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. American swingman Josh Micheaux (195-90, college: Georgia St.) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) replied with 9 points and 8 rebounds and guard Thorben Paulsen (188-90) added 18 points in the effort for Hagen-Haspe. Five Herford and four Hagen-Haspe players scored in double figures. Herford maintains ninth position in West with 5-6 record. Loser Hagen-Haspe keeps the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Herford will face higher ranked Duesseldorf (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hagen-Haspe will play against Dorsten (#5) and hope to win that game.
