Rather predictable result in San Giorgio where eighth ranked Piombino (6-4) defeated 11th ranked Sangiorgese (4-6) 64-60 on Sunday. Piombino forced 20 Sangiorgese turnovers. Point guard Simone Bonfiglio (181-88) scored 18 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Riccardo Romano (193-84, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side power forward Alessandro Priuli (200-86, agency: Players Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Andrea Tommei (181-91) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Piombino moved-up to sixth place in B. Loser Sangiorgese dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Piombino will face Firenze Enic (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sangiorgese will play against USE Basket (#8) in Empoli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
