Regular Season Round 9: Bourges - Nantes 83-72

LFB top team - Bourges (8-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Nantes Reze (4-5) 83-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nantes Reze. Nantes Reze was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 38-25 second half run of Bourges. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nantes Reze's 34. Bourges forced 19 Nantes Reze turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The best player for the winners was Brazilian center Clarissa Dos Santos (184-88) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). International point guard Ingrid Tanqueray (164-88) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Bourges' coach Valerie Garnier used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian forward Katherine Plouffe (190-92, college: Marquette) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and German Margret Skuballa (186-87) added 13 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Bourges. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Nantes Reze at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Bourges' next round opponent will be Basket Landes (#3) in Mont de Marsan, which may be the game of the day. Nantes Reze will play at home against Nice (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
