Second Stage Round 20: Sichuan - Shandong 87-71

No shocking result in a game in Sichuan where fourth ranked Whale (7-11) defeated 6th ranked Shandong (3-16) 87-71. Whale made 16-of-17 charity shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 50 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds and guard HongChun Wang (182-88) supported her with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Whale's coach WeiDong Chen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by the former international power forward Hengyu Yang (194-95) did not help to save the game for Shandong. Center Jing An (184-95) added 18 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Four Shandong players scored in double figures. Whale moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Heilongjiang. Shandong at the other side keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. Whale's next round opponent will be league's leader Bayi Kylin in Yinzhou and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shandong will play at home against Liaoning Hengye (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
