Regular Season Round 21: Puerto Montt - AB Ancud 78-86

Date: December 7, 2016
Very predictable result when fourth ranked AB Ancud (12-11) won against on the road 9th ranked Puerto Montt (9-11) 86-78. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 21-17 Puerto Montt's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 86-78 at the end of the game. AB Ancud dominated on the defensive end, holding Puerto Montt to just 6 points in first quarter. They made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and the former international point guard Pedro Sandoval (175-89) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Four AB Ancud players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) with 40 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and the other American import power forward Mike Phillips (201-90, college: Howard) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Despite that victory AB Ancud went down to fifth position due to points difference. Puerto Montt at the other side keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. AB Ancud will play against league's second-placed Osorno Basquetbol on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puerto Montt will play against Puente Alto (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
