Regular Season Round 21: CDE Talca - Las Animas 80-95

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Espanol de Talca (10-9) lost at home to eighth ranked Las Animas (11-10) 95-80. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Espanol de Talca's 40. They outrebounded Espanol de Talca 40-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. Las Animas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Dominic Cheek (198-91, college: Villanova) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. Five Las Animas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Pablo Barraza (184-94) with 24 points and American swingman Decorey Jones (201-90, college: Faulkner) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Las Animas moved-up to sixth place. Espanol de Talca at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with CD Valdivia. Las Animas will play against higher ranked CD Castro (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Espanol de Talca will play against Universidad Catolica and hopes to get back on the winning track.
