Regular Season Round 11: Ravenna - Verona 78-70

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Ravenna (7-4) defeated at home 11th ranked Verona (4-7) 78-70 on Thursday. Ravenna dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Verona's 22. American power forward Taylor Smith (199-91, college: SF Austin) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Derrick Marks (190-93, college: Boise St.) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Ravenna players scored in double figures. American point guard Dawan Robinson (188-82, college: Rhode Island) answered with 14 points and the former international swingman Giorgio Boscagin (196-83) added 12 points in the effort for Verona. Ravenna moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Verona keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Ravenna will face Imola (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Verona will play against Chieti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
