Regular Season Round 14: Malbas - Umea 80-104

Date: December 9, 2016
Everything could happen in Malmo at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Umea and 8th ranked Malbas had identical 1-10 record. But Malbas were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Umea 104-80 on Friday night. Umea shot 60.9 percent from the field. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Rudy Mbemba (184-87, agency: Promotex) who scored 26 points and 4 assists. American forward George Valentine (203-88, college: Winthrop, agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Adrian Rodgers (194-92, college: Southern, agency: Three Eye Sports) produced 22 points and Danish guard Sebastian Petersen (188-95) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Umea (2-10) moved-up to eighth place. Malbas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Umea will face higher ranked KFUM Jamtland (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Malbas will play against Sodertalje Kings and hope to win that game.
