Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Espanol de Talca (11-9) defeated at home 11th ranked Universidad Catolica (5-18) 71-56. They outrebounded Universidad Catolica 48-37 including 35 on the defensive glass. Espanol de Talca players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Universidad Catolica helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American forward Dwight McCombs (203-89, college: Cent.Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Pablo Barraza (184-94) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward John Dickson (198-90, college: Sacramento St.) replied with 21 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Brandon Crawford (201-84, college: Albion) added 5 points and 18 rebounds in the effort for Universidad Catolica. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Espanol de Talca maintains seventh position with 11-9 record, which they share with CD Valdivia. Universidad Catolica at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 18 games lost. Espanol de Talca's next round opponent will be league's leader Los Leones in Quilpue and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Universidad Catolica will play on the road against Universidad de Concepcion (#3) and hope to win that game.
