Regular Season Round 14: Vitebsk - Brest 97-51
Date: December 10, 2016
There was no surprise when 8th ranked Brest (2-10) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Vitebsk (7-7) 97-51. The game without a history. Vitebsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Brest to an opponent 22.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.2 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Brest 62-39 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vitebsk players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Brest's players. Forward Ruslan Pishcheyko (190-98) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Ivan Aladko (193-95) supported him with 22 points. Five Vitebsk players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds by forward Dmitriy Solyshko (196-96) did not help to save the game for Brest. Guard Anton Shchurko (188-97) added 14 points for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vitebsk have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 7-7 record. Newly promoted Brest keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Vitebsk will have a break next round. Brest will play on the road against the league's second-placed COR-Borisfen (#2) in Mogilev and hope to win that game.
