Regular Season Round 12: Ponferrada CDP - Gijon 102-71

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Gijon (2-8) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Ponferrada CDP (7-3) 102-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ponferrada CDP led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Ponferrada CDP outrebounded Gijon 45-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 6 rebounds and Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) who added 16 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Cambronne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ponferrada CDP players scored in double figures. Ponferrada CDP's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Jorge Escapa (198-92) with 18 points and 7 rebounds and forward Rodrigo Cid Garcia (196-96) scored 16 points. Ponferrada CDP have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. Gijon lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face Naron (#6) on the road in the next round. Gijon will play against Calidus Gal.COB (#5) and hope to win that game.
