Regular Season Round 10: Panionios - Faros 76-75

Fourth-ranked Faros (6-4) was very close to win a game against top-ranked Panionios (10-0) in Athens on Saturday. Panionios managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected easier game. 26 personal fouls committed by Faros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian-British center Fahro Alihodzic (208-89, college: UAB) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Vagel Sakellariou (195-89) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Panionios players scored in double figures. Point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) replied with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Christos Petrodimopoulos (206-80) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Faros. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Panionios have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Newly promoted Panionios maintains first position with 10-0 record. Faros at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with AE Larissas and Ethnikos. Panionios' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Amyntas Dafnis.
