Regular Season Round 12: Real Canoe - Tenerife Naut. 74-61

There was no surprise in Madrid where 5th ranked Tenerife Naut. (7-3) was defeated by first ranked Real Canoe (11-1) 74-61 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-8 charge of Real Canoe, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tenerife Naut.'s 30. Real Canoe forced 19 Tenerife Naut. turnovers and outrebounded them 38-24 including a 15-0 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tenerife Naut. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Ruben Martinez (196-85) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds and center Pablo Rodrigo (204-86) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Ayoze Alonso (187-91) with 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Cuban power forward Georffri Silvestre (202-79) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Canoe have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 11-1 record. Loser Tenerife Naut. dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. Real Canoe will face CB Guadalajara (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tenerife Naut. will play against Rivas (#16) and hope to win that game.
