Regular Season Round 13: Treuchtlingen - Herzogenaurach 102-87

Very predictable result when third ranked Treuchtlingen (9-2) won against 13th ranked Herzogenaurach (3-9) in Treutchlingen 102-87 on Saturday. Treuchtlingen dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Herzogenaurach's 40. They outrebounded Herzogenaurach 35-20 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Treuchtlingen looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Herzogenaurach's players. It was a very good performance for forward Stefan Schmoll (196-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Tim Eisenberger (197-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds and 17 assists for the winners. Four Treuchtlingen players scored in double figures. Austrian swingman Michael Kaiser (195-82) answered with 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Matthew Meredith (194-0) added 22 points and 5 steals in the effort for Herzogenaurach. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Treuchtlingen. They maintain third place in South-East with 9-2 record behind leader Coburg. Herzogenaurach lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. Treuchtlingen will face Jena II (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Herzogenaurach will play against Schwabing (#6) and hope to win that game.
