Regular Season Round 14: Coruna - Prat 90-97

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Leyma Basquet (9-5) against fourteenth ranked CB Prat (5-9) on Saturday night. Host Leyma Basquet was defeated by CB Prat in a tough game in Coruna 90-97. It looked good early as Leyma Basquet took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then CB Prat had a 31-24 second period charge getting the lead and Leyma Basquet was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 90-97. Pep Ortega (201-84) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Xabier Lopez (198-97) supported him with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Even 19 points by Lithuanian center Gediminas Zyle (210-88, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Leyma Basquet. American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Duran International) added 11 points and 10 assists for the hosts. Four Leyma Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CB Prat moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Castello. Leyma Basquet at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. CB Prat will play against Marin (#17) at home in the next round. Leyma Basquet will play against Castello (#13) in Castellon and hopes to get back on the winning track.
