Very important is a road loss of third ranked Caen (9-6) against fourth ranked Rueil (10-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Caen was crushed by Rueil in Rueil 93-74. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Rueil outrebounded Caen 35-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian swingman Dejan Sencanski (198-84, college: Abil.Christian) who led the winners and scored 28 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Karim Gourari (204-89) accounted for 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Rueil players scored in double figures. Rueil's coach Julien Hervy used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Moustapha Diarra (204-87, college: USF) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Bryson Pope (198-90, college: Kent St.) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Caen in the defeat. Rueil moved-up to third place. Loser Caen dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with GET Vosges and St Vallier. Rueil will meet UB Chartres (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caen will play against Vitre (#8) and hope to secure a win.
