Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Burgos (3-7) was edged at home by sixth ranked Valladolid Univ. (7-3) 77-74 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 21-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Valladolid Univ. forced 23 Burgos turnovers. Strangely Burgos outrebounded Valladolid Univ. 44-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Javier Martinez (187-97) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and forward Axel Castillo (194-88) who added 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Julien Sargent (211-91, college: Mobile, AL) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and forward Alvaro Gomez (192-84) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valladolid Univ. moved-up to fourth place in Group A-A, which they share with Santurtzi and Cantbasket. Burgos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Valladolid Univ. will face Pielagos (#12) in Renedo de Pielagos in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Burgos will play on the road against Zarautz Ulacia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
