Regular Season Round 5: Al Rayyan - Al Arabi 55-83

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#6) and Al Rayyan (#1). Al Rayyan was crushed at home by 28 points 55-83 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Rayyan. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-55. Al Arabi made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Al Arabi outrebounded Al Rayyan 47-31 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Marcus Bell (206-90, college: CS Stanislaus) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and international swingman Mohd Hassan Mohamed (191-91) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha .
