Regular Season Round 7: Chemidor - Shiraz a.s Pipe 93-63

Bottom-ranked Shiraz a.s Pipe (0-7) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to sixth ranked Chemidor (4-3) 93-63 on Monday evening. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-63. Chemidor outrebounded Shiraz a.s Pipe 53-26 including a 39-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chemidor made 9 blocks. American guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St.) fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Five Chemidor players scored in double figures. Chemidor's coach Javad Rahmatipour felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Amir Allahverdi produced 21 points and 4 steals and Mohsen Rezaei added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Chemidor have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Tabriz. Newly promoted Shiraz a.s Pipe still closes the standings with seven games lost. Chemidor will meet league's leader Petrochimi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shiraz a.s Pipe will play against Army (#8) in Tehran and hopes to get finally their first victory.
