There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Hap.Haifa (5-4) defeated on the road 6th ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (5-5) 95-81. Hap.Haifa dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ironi Kiryat Ata's 30 and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Hap.Haifa players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) supported him with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Hap.Haifa's coach Shaked Shoham allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by American power forward Dallis Joyner (203-90, college: Stony Brook) did not help to save the game for Ironi Kiryat Ata. His fellow American import swingman Sir'Dominic Pointer (198-92, college: St.John's) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Five Hap.Haifa and four Ironi Kiryat Ata players scored in double figures. Hap.Haifa moved-up to seventh place. Ironi Kiryat Ata at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Hap.Haifa's next round opponent will be Galil Elion (#12) in Kazrin where they are favorite. Ironi Kiryat Ata will play on the road against Hapoel Afula (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
