Regular Season Round 15: Gipuzkoa GBC - Melilla 66-61

There was no surprise in San Sebastian where 10th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (7-8) was defeated by third ranked Gipuzkoa (11-4) 66-61 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Melilla Baloncesto trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 19-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 61-66 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Ricardo Uriz (188-80) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Sergi Pino (197-87, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) who recorded 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Marcos Suka-Umu (192-85) added 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Palencia and Oviedo. Loser Melilla Baloncesto keeps the tenth place with eight games lost. Gipuzkoa will face Leyma Basquet (#7) in Coruna in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Melilla Baloncesto will play on the road against Magia Huesca and hope to win that game.
