There was no surprise when 8th ranked Mondragon (4-7) was crushed at home by second ranked Ardoi (9-2) 86-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ardoi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Mondragon's 24. Mondragon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Oscar Gomez (203-93) fired 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Imanol Ceciaga (186-90) produced 16 points, 6 assists and 5 steals and Ander Atxa (195-91) added 2 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ardoi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group A-A with 9-2 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Menorca. Loser Mondragon keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
