Regular Season Round 13: Vicenza - Cento 54-117
Date: December 18, 2016
There was no surprise when 10th ranked Vicenza (5-8) was outplayed at home by fourth ranked Cento (10-3) 117-54 on Sunday. Cento shot 63.5 percent from the field and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Cento outrebounded Vicenza 45-23 including a 38-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 63.3 percentage. Cento looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Vicenza's players. Swingman Luca Bedetti (193-89, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized Argentinian guard Adrian Chiera (190-94, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Cento players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Daniele Demartini (187-84, agency: Players Group) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Luca Ianes (203-80, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cento. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Vicenza keeps the tenth place with eight games lost. Cento will face Lecco (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Vicenza will play against Crema and hope to win that game.
