Regular Season Round 11: Ragusa - Battipaglia 65-61
Date: December 18, 2016
Very expected game when 11th ranked Battipaglia (2-9) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Ragusa (7-4) 65-61. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Battipaglia was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Senegalese-Spanish center Astou Ndour (198-94, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. The former international forward Chiara Consolini (186-88) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Greek forward Katerina Sotiriou (186-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Battipaglia. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ragusa. They maintain fifth place with 7-4 record, which they share with Napoli. Battipaglia at the other side keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Ragusa's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked La Spezia (#12) at home and are hoping to win another game. Battipaglia will play against Familia Schio and hope to win that game.
