Regular Season Round 11: Rouen - Poitiers 71-79

Very predictable result when twelfth ranked Poitiers (5-6) won against on the road bottom-ranked SPO Rouen (2-9) 79-71 on Tuesday. SPO Rouen trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 23-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-79 at the end of the game. Poitiers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Arnaud Thinon (178-87) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Poitiers players scored in double figures. Icelandic Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American guard James Woodard (191-94, college: Tulsa) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for SPO Rouen. Poitiers moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. SPO Rouen lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Poitiers will face higher ranked JL Bourg (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SPO Rouen will play against SO Maritime Boulogne (#16) in Boulogne-sur-Mer and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
