Regular Season Round 5: Tadamon - Al Riyadi 82-104

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Tadamon (3-2) against fifth ranked Al Riyadi (3-2) on Thursday night. Host Tadamon was crushed by Al Riyadi in Zouk 104-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tadamon. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Tadamon's 34 and made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Al Riyadi had a 34-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Al Riyadi brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Jean Abdel Nour (198-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American guard Earvin Morris (196-94, college: UTEP) answered with 27 points and the other American import forward Maurice Kemp (203-91, college: E.Carolina, agency: Duran International) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tadamon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Tadamon and Louaize. Al Riyadi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Hoops Club.
