Regular Season Round 23: Palanga - Perlas-MRU 72-84

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Palanga (8-14) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Perlas-MRU (13-9) 84-72 on Friday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 44-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Perlas-MRU forced 23 Palanga turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Gytis Radzevicius (195-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Guard Margiris Normantas (193-96) helped adding 16 points and 7 assists. Four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Perlas-MRU's coach Arvydas Gronskis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Antanas Bertasius (205-94) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and Mantvydas Staselis (189-94) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Perlas-MRU maintains fifth place with 13-9 record. Loser Palanga keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Perlas-MRU will face Silute (#6) at home in the next round. Palanga will play against Petrochema (#14) in Jonava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
