Regular Season Round 26: Niigata Albirex - Chiba Jets 91-90

Important game to mention about took place in Niigata. Second ranked Niigata Albirex (15-11) saved a 1-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Chiba Jets (18-8) 91-90 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Chiba Jets. It looked good early as Chiba Jets took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Niigata Albirex had a 22-15 second period charge getting the lead and Chiba Jets were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 90-91. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 9 assists and American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-11 record having eight points less than leader SeaHorses. Chiba Jets at the other side keep the third place with eight games lost. Niigata Albirex will again play against Chiba Jets (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chiba Jets will have a break next round.
