Regular Season Round 26: Sendai 89ers - Nagoya DD 68-101

Date: December 23, 2016
An interesting game for Diamond Dolphins (16-10) which played road game in Sendai against 4th ranked Sendai 89ers (7-19). Second ranked Diamond Dolphins had an easy win 101-68. The game without a history. Diamond Dolphins led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Diamond Dolphins outrebounded Sendai 89ers 45-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. Canadian center Jordan Bachynski (218-89, college: Arizona St.) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Taito Nakahigashi (190-92) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. Guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) added 11 points and 5 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Diamond Dolphins have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-10 record having seven points less than leader SeaHorses. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the fourth place with 19 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again against the league's second-placed Diamond Dolphins (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
