Regular Season Round 7: Tokyo Cinq R. - Otsuka A. 72-84

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tokyo: Otsuka A. (#4) and Tokyo Cinq R. (#5). Tokyo Cinq R. was defeated at home 72-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Tokyo Cinq R. was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 47-33 second half run of Otsuka A.. Otsuka A. shot 23 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Tokyo Cinq R. only scored five points from the stripe. 27 personal fouls committed by Tokyo Cinq R. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Kodama Takashi (166-92) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis, agency: Duran International) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward R.J. Slawson (206-92, college: Jacksonville) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo Cinq R.Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Otsuka A.. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Tokyo HT. Tokyo Cinq R. at the other side keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. Otsuka A.'s next round opponent will be league's leader Fukuoka Rizing on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Cinq R. will play against the league's second-placed Kanazawa Sam. (#2) in Ishikawa and hope to win that game.
