Regular Season Round 11: Galil Gilboa - Ironi Nahariya 62-106

We should mention about the upset which took place in Rosh Pina, where higher ranked Galil Gilboa (5-6) was outleveled at home by eleventh ranked Ironi Nahariya (4-7) 106-62 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Galil Gilboa. The game without a history. Ironi Nahariya led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Galil Gilboa's 34. Ironi Nahariya forced 19 Galil Gilboa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Galil Gilboa's players. It was a great evening for American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Niv Berkowitz (190-86, college: Marquette) helped adding 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. American Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Michael Qualls (198-94, college: Arkansas) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ironi Nahariya moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Maccabi Haifa. Newly promoted Galil Gilboa keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Ironi Nahariya will meet league's leader Maccabi T-A in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galil Gilboa will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Holon (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
