Regular Season Round 22: Indios - Panteras 72-87

Date: December 27, 2016
Very expected game when 9th ranked Ciudad (6-16) lost to fifth ranked Panteras (12-11) in Ciudad Juarez 72-87 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Panteras led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Panteras outrebounded Ciudad 47-35 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Panteras made 10 blocks. American-Puerto Rican Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St., agency: Paris Global Sports) notched 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Jesus Villalobos supported him with 18 points. Even 15 points and 4 assists by the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) did not help to save the game for Ciudad. American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Four Panteras and five Ciudad players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Panteras maintains fifth position with 12-11 record. Ciudad lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 16 games lost. Panteras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ciudad will play again against Panteras (#5) and hope to secure a win.
