No shocking result in a game when second ranked Toros (16-7) beat 7th ranked Santos (9-13) in Nuevo Laredo 83-74 on Tuesday. Santos were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) notched 27 points to lead the effort and forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds by forward B.J. West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) did not help to save the game for Santos. Forward Greg Smith (198-91, college: Colorado St.) added 22 points for lost side. Santos' coach Andres Contreras rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toros have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Toros maintains second position with 16-7 record having four points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Santos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Barreteros. Toros will again meet at home Santos (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Santos will have a break next round.
