Regular Season Round 13: Lille - Charleville 70-76

Date: December 27, 2016
The game in Lille was also quite interesting. Second ranked Charleville-Mezieres (10-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Lille Metropole (7-6). Charleville-Mezieres managed to secure a 6-point victory 76-70 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lille Metropole won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (190-94, college: LIU Brooklyn) stepped up and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Charleville-Mezieres' coach Cedric Heitz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) responded with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Charleville-Mezieres maintains second place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader Provence Basket. Loser Lille Metropole keeps the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Denain. Charleville-Mezieres will meet at home Denain Voltaire (#6) in the next round. Lille Metropole will play against SO Maritime Boulogne in Boulogne-sur-Mer and hope to secure a win.
