Regular Season Round 22: Soles - Fuerza Regia 89-79

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Fuerza Regia (21-1) in Mexicali on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Soles (14-8) 89-79. It ended at the same time the 21-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. The game was mostly controlled by Soles. Fuerza Regia managed to win second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Soles shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. The former international Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Four Soles and five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soles have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-8 record having seven points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Fuerza Regia at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. Soles are again looking forward to face league's leader Fuerza Regia in Monterrey in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round.
