Regular Season Round 28: Las Animas - CD Valdivia 50-67

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Valdivia: Deportivo Valdivia (#6) and Las Animas (#7). Las Animas were smashed at home by 17 points 50-67 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Deportivo Valdivia outrebounded Las Animas 47-35 including 38 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and the former international Gerardo Isla (201-91, college: Columbia, MO) who added 16 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Deportivo Valdivia's coach Juan Manuel Cordoba used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Dominic Cheek (198-91, college: Villanova) responded with 16 points and Francisco Figueroa scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Deportivo Valdivia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CDE Talca. Las Animas at the other side keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia is looking forward to face CD Castro (#8) at home in the next round. Las Animas will play against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
