Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Universidad Catolica (6-23) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Espanol de Talca (16-11) 83-74 on Wednesday. Espanol de Talca made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Espanol de Talca outrebounded Universidad Catolica 42-30 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Dwight McCombs (203-89, college: Cent.Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 21 rebounds and the former international guard Eduardo Sepulveda (186-86) who added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Espanol de Talca players scored in double figures. Espanol de Talca's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward John Dickson (198-90, college: Sacramento St.) responded with 32 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Brandon Crawford (201-84, college: Albion) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. Espanol de Talca have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 16-11 record, which they share with CD Valdivia. Loser Universidad Catolica stay dead last with 23 lost games. Espanol de Talca will face league's leader Los Leones in Quilpue in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Universidad Catolica will play on the road against Universidad de Concepcion (#3) and hope to win that game.
