Regular Season Round 28: CD Valdivia - Las Animas 96-88

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Valdivia: Deportivo Valdivia (#6) and Las Animas (#7). Deportivo Valdivia (16-11) won against visiting Las Animas (14-15) 96-88. Las Animas were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 62-52 second half run of Deportivo Valdivia. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and the former international Gerardo Isla (201-91, college: Columbia, MO) supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds by American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) did not help to save the game for Las Animas. The former international power forward Jose Del Solar (195-90) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Deportivo Valdivia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CDE Talca. Las Animas at the other side keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia will play against CD Castro (#8) at home in the next round. Las Animas will play against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
