Rather expected game when 9th ranked Al Wakrah (1-6) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Al Sadd (3-4) 67-63 on Tuesday. Al Wakrah trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 24-14 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 63-67 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Khalid Abdi (198-87) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. American forward AJ West (206-91, college: Nevada) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Nigerian forward Olatunbo Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively. Four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. Al Sadd moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Qatar Club. Al Wakrah lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
