Regular Season Round 22: Karlovka - Kosice 59-93

Very expected game when 9th ranked Karlovka (5-16) was smashed by second ranked Kosice (17-3) in Bratislava 93-59. Kosice dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Karlovka's 38. Kosice forced 20 Karlovka turnovers and had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American power forward Anthony Lee (206-91, college: Ohio St.) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian guard Stefan Matovic (203-91) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Daniel Stransky (204-93) responded with 11 points and swingman Michal Podhorsky (193-87) scored 12 points. Five Kosice and four Karlovka players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kosice have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Inter Bratislava. Karlovka lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 16 games lost. Kosice will play against league's leader Inter Bratislava on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Karlovka will play against Nitra (#10) in Nitra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
