The most important game of round 1 took place in where Taiyuan Textile beat Cathay Life (2-1) 65-61 on Wednesday night. Taiyuan Textile made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Cathay Life outrebounded Taiyuan Textile 44-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. The former international forward Xi-Ye Liu (172-91) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and international forward Ying-Chieh Wu (179-92) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international forward Yu-Chun Chen (176-87) responded with 14 points and the former international guard Fan-Shan Huang (174-87) scored 2 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Cathay Life's coach Ling Yao Hung tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Cathay Life will play next round against strong Chunghwa Telecom trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Taiyuan Textile will try to continue on its current victory against Taipower at home.
